CASE 1 | FIELD VISIBILITY

Less water, same productivity – smart irrigation

Through continuous soil moisture monitoring, Filipe was able to substantially reduce water consumption in his orchards, especially in the peach trees, without compromising productivity.

PROBLEM

 The Challenge

Before Wisecrop, Filipe faced some obstacles:

Not knowing the soil's water status

Irrigation decisions were based on empirical experience, without data indicating actual water needs.

Risk of wasted water and energy

The lack of monitoring led to excessive or poorly distributed irrigation, impacting costs and sustainability.

Lack of indicators to optimize irrigation

Without reliable data, it was impossible to adjust irrigation duration and frequency, especially in years of greater climate demand.
This information is crucial to help us make decisions, both day-to-day and for planning.

HOW WE SOLVED IT

The Solution

We implemented soil temperature and moisture probes for continuous monitoring.

CASE 2 | FIELD VISIBILITY

Monitoring chill hours to ensure productivity

By tracking accumulated chill hours, Filipe makes informed decisions about variety selection and orchard planning, mitigating climate risks and ensuring profitability.

PROBLEM

The Challenge

Before digitalization, Filipe faced several obstacles:

Lack of chill hour data

Without accumulated data, it was difficult to accurately track the timing of dormancy break in the cherry trees.

Variety selection

Without concrete indicators, introducing or replacing varieties was based on assumptions.

Ineffective medium-term planning

Orchard management didn't reflect recent climate reality, which compromised future productivity.
There's been a noticeable trend in recent years of a gradual decrease in chill hours, and this information helps us plan better when we need to renew parts of the orchard.

HOW WE SOLVED IT

The Solution

A weather station was installed that, using air temperature data, allows precise calculation of accumulated chill hours.
